What Is AcuNova?
AcuNova is an acupuncture system developed in Denmark by Dr. John Boel. Although it was designed as a broad treatment system, it has become best known worldwide for its work with eye conditions. Fine needles are placed mainly on the hands, feet and body, not near the eyes. The points are chosen for their relationship to the visual and nervous systems, with the aim of supporting circulation and communication between the eyes and the brain.

AcuNova complements, rather than replaces, care from your ophthalmologist or optometrist. Please continue all prescribed treatment, including eye drops for glaucoma and injections for wet macular degeneration, and keep your regular eye exams. Many patients find peace of mind in doing something more for their eyes while staying with the care they already trust.
What to Expect During Your AcuNova Session
Your first visit begins with a thorough consultation to understand your vision concerns, medical history, and lifestyle factors that may affect eye health.
During treatment, fine sterile needles are placed in specific points on the hands, feet, and other body areas that correspond to visual function.
AcuNova most often involves a series of 10–20 treatments over 1–2 weeks, typically with two sessions per day to stimulate neurological signaling at a therapeutic intensity. As improvement or stabilization is observed, we recommend transitioning to a maintenance schedule tailored to your condition — this may include weekly, monthly, or periodic booster series to help sustain results and support long-term eye health.
