What is AcuNova?
A Revolutionary Approach to Eye Health Support
AcuNova is an advanced neurological acupuncture protocol developed in Denmark and used by a limited number of practitioners in the U.S. It is chosen by patients who have explored conventional care, appreciate complexity, and are willing to commit to a structured treatment journey.
AcuNova is sometimes explored in cases involving neurological or degenerative visual concerns. Examples of clinical contexts where this approach may be considered include:
- Macular degeneration (Dry and Wet)
- Glaucoma (Supportive Care)
- Retinitis pigmentosa
- Optic nerve–related visual changes
- Visual field disturbances
- Early-stage cataract (supportive care only)
Appropriateness is determined through individual review and response patterns — not diagnosis alone.
Conditions We Support

Glaucoma Support
Used as complementary care in patients with optic nerve–related visual changes

Important: AcuNova is designed to support eye health and is not a substitute for medical treatment. We recommend maintaining regular care with your ophthalmologist and coordinating treatment approaches.
What to Expect
AcuNova Treatment Course
AcuNova follows a structured protocol designed to give your eyes the best opportunity for improvement.
1
Initial Intensive Phase
Weeks 1–2
Treatment begins with an intensive evaluation phase designed to assess how your condition responds to AcuNova.
- Treatments are performed twice per day
- Five consecutive days per week (Monday–Friday)
- Two weeks total (20 treatments)
This phase helps determine whether AcuNova is appropriate for you
2
Clinical Re-Evaluation
After 20 treatments
After the initial phase, your response to AcuNova is carefully evaluated.
- Progress is reviewed based on clinical response
- This step determines whether continued care is recommended
- Not all patients move forward beyond this stage
3
Next Steps (If Appropriate)
Varies by Response
The next phase depends on how your condition responds.
- If improvement is observed, care may continue on a reduced weekly schedule
- If results are unclear, treatment may pause followed by re-evaluation
- If no improvement is seen, AcuNova is discontinued
This approach ensures care is appropriate and individualized.

Who Is a Good Candidate?
AcuNova works best for patients who meet certain criteria. Review the lists below to see if you might be a good fit.
You May Be a Good Candidate If…
You have a chronic or degenerative eye condition
You are willing to commit to a structured treatment protocol
You are seeking deeper, specialty-level support
Not Recommended For
You are seeking quick fixes
You expect insurance-covered solutions
You are not ready to commit to a treatment process
Important Considerations
AcuNova is designed to work alongside conventional medical care, not replace it. The best results occur when patients maintain regular appointments with their ophthalmologist and coordinate both approaches.
During your consultation, we’ll review your medical history, current treatments, and specific condition to determine if AcuNova is appropriate for your situation.
The Method
AcuNova follows a structured neurological framework rather than symptom-based treatment. Sessions are designed to observe response patterns over time, not to chase immediate outcomes.
The Approach
AcuNova is always used as complementary care. We do not replace ophthalmologic treatment, and patients are encouraged to remain under the care of their eye doctor. Our role is specific and focused — supporting neurological and regulatory systems that are often not addressed elsewhere.

Frequently Asked Questions
Get answers to common questions about AcuNova eye acupuncture
Does AcuNova hurt?
AcuNova can cause some discomfort, especially during the initial treatments, since needles are placed in areas like the fingers and toes. Sensations may include pressure or brief soreness. While this can feel intense for some patients, it is closely monitored and typically short-lived. No needles are placed in or around the eyes.
How long before I see results?
Results vary by individual and condition. Some patients notice improvements during the initial treatment week, while others experience gradual changes during the 8-week rest period. The full benefits often become apparent after completing both treatment phases. We track progress through visual function assessments and patient-reported outcomes.
Will my insurance cover AcuNova treatments?
At this time, insurance plans do not cover acupuncture for eye health or visual disorders. AcuNova is therefore structured as private-pay care.
Can I continue my regular eye medications and treatments?
Yes, absolutely. AcuNova is designed to complement your existing medical care, not replace it. You should continue all medications and treatments prescribed by your ophthalmologist. Always inform both your ophthalmologist and our clinic about all treatments you’re receiving.
